These Terms and Community Rules apply when you use the Sportmeet mobile app (the “App”), run by Sportmeet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the App.
1. Who can use Sportmeet
- You must be 18 or older. The App asks you to confirm this before you sign up, and tapping “I’m 18+ and I agree” also means you accept these Terms, the Community Rules and our Privacy Policy.
- You sign in with a mobile phone number you control. Keep your account and verification codes to yourself; you’re responsible for activity on your account.
- Give accurate profile information. Don’t pretend to be someone else, and don’t create accounts to get around a block, a report or a suspension.
2. Community Rules
Sportmeet is for meeting people to play sports. These rules apply to everything you post or send: profile name, bio and photos, game titles and places, and chat messages.
Do not post, send or do any of the following:
- Harassment, bullying, stalking, intimidation or threats of any kind.
- Hateful, abusive or discriminatory content or conduct, including attacks on people because of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar traits.
- Sexual, nudity, sexually explicit or sexually suggestive content, or unwelcome sexual advances.
- Violence, or content that encourages violence, self-harm or dangerous acts.
- Illegal activity or content, including anything involving minors in a sexual or harmful way.
- Impersonation, fake profiles, spam, scams, or advertising unrelated to Sportmeet.
- Sharing someone else’s private information or photos without their permission.
- Photos or content you don’t have the right to share.
- Trying to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the App, or to access other people’s accounts.
Respect other people’s boundaries. If someone asks you to stop contacting them, stop.
3. Reporting and blocking
- Report a person or conversation using the ••• menu on their profile or in a chat. Choose a reason and, if you like, add details. You can also email support@sportmeet.io.
- Block anyone from the same menu. Once someone is blocked, neither of you can send the other messages or game invitations, and you can’t match, until you unblock them in Profile → Block list. They no longer appear in your Discover deck. We don’t tell people they’ve been blocked or reported.
- We run a basic automated check on names, bios, game details and messages and may refuse text that contains clearly prohibited language. It can’t catch everything, so please report anything that gets through. We do not automatically review photos.
- Our team reviews reports manually. We don’t promise a response time, and we may not tell you what we decided. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
4. What we may do
If we believe content or conduct breaks these rules, is unsafe, or is unlawful, we may remove content, limit features, or suspend or end accounts, with or without warning, and we may share information with authorities where we think the law or safety requires it. You can appeal or ask a question by emailing support@sportmeet.io.
5. Your content
You own the content you post. You give Sportmeet a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, display and deliver it within the App and to our service providers as needed to run Sportmeet (for example, showing your profile to other users and delivering your messages). That licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies we are unable to remove right away or must keep as described in our Privacy Policy, and except for messages already delivered to other people.
6. Meeting people and playing sports — your safety
- Sportmeet helps people find each other and organise games. We do not run background checks and we cannot verify every profile, message or game. Sportmeet is not present at games or meetups.
- Meet in public places, tell a friend where you’re going, and trust your instincts. Sports carry a risk of injury; take part at your own risk and within your own ability.
- Hosts are responsible for the games they create, including the place, time and anything they say about the game.
7. The service
We provide Sportmeet “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it running but don’t promise it will always be available, error-free or that any feature will stay the same. We may change or stop parts of the App. To the extent allowed by law, Sportmeet is not liable for what users do or say, for injuries or losses from meeting other users or playing sports, or for indirect or consequential losses from using the App. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under law that can’t be limited.
8. Ending your account
You can stop using Sportmeet at any time and delete your account in the App (Profile → Delete Account), or follow sportmeet.io/delete-account. What deletion removes and what may remain is explained in the Privacy Policy.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how it is used and shared.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these Terms. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, tell you in the App or another suitable way. Continuing to use Sportmeet after a change means you accept it. These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and disputes will be handled by the courts of Ontario, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
