This page explains how to delete your account for the Sportmeet mobile app (iOS and Android), operated by Sportmeet, Toronto, Canada — including if you no longer have the App installed.
Option 1 — Delete inside the App
- Open Sportmeet and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
If you signed in a while ago, the App may ask you to log out and sign back in with your phone number first, then try again.
Option 2 — Request deletion by email
If you can’t use the App, email privacy@sportmeet.io with the subject “Delete my Sportmeet account” and include:
- the mobile phone number on the account (with country code), and
- the display name on your profile.
How we check it’s you. Sportmeet accounts are tied to a phone number, and email can’t prove you control that number. So we may reply asking for more information that only the account owner would know (for example, details from your profile), and we will not delete an account if we can’t reasonably confirm the request is genuine. This protects you from someone else deleting your account.
We aim to respond within 30 days.
What is deleted
Deleting in the App does all of this right away. If you request deletion by email, we do it once we have confirmed the request.
- Your public profile (name, bio, age, gender, sports, photo references) and your private account record, including your phone number.
- Photos you uploaded through the App.
- The messages you sent, and the matches you were part of. A conversation with nothing left in it is removed.
- Your likes and passes, given and received, and blocks placed by you or on you.
- Your name and place in game rosters. Upcoming games you host are cancelled; upcoming games you joined are left.
- Your sign-in account. Your phone number can then be used to create a new account.
What may be kept, and why
- Messages other people sent you stay in their own conversation history, without your name or photo.
- Reports sent about you or by you, kept for safety and abuse prevention.
- A minimal deletion record (an internal identifier and dates) so we can show the deletion happened.
- Backups and logs held by our service providers, which clear on their own schedule.
If you used the original Sportmeet app
The original app’s systems — including its database, chat service and photos stored on Amazon S3 — are separate from the current App. We can’t delete them from inside the App, so when you delete your account we note what needs removing and delete that earlier-version data by hand within 30 days. Until then it still exists, so your deletion is not fully complete until that is done. Email privacy@sportmeet.io if you want confirmation when it has been removed.
More detail is in our Privacy Policy. Questions: support@sportmeet.io.
